I do have some slots available early afternoons up until 5pm, evening after 6pm on Mondays and Wednesdays and weekday mornings from 10am-12pm. I am very keen to do more online lessons. Please do get in touch to find out more :)
I am a very committed and dedicated music teacher who offers you the opportunity to work towards achieving your goals both in the short term and in the long term. With this in mind, we keep notes during lessons to help you keep on track and monitor your progress from one lesson to the next and see how far you've come.
A little bit about me...
I've been a teacher of music for over 15 years mostly on a self employed basis but also teach at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge UK. The instruments I teach are: Guitar (electric, acoustic and Spanish/classical), 5 String Banjo (mostly Bluegrass finger style picking), Bass guitar, Mandolin and Ukulele. My specialism is jazz rock fusion guitar as this is the style that I perform in when I'm out gigging and is very much "my bag". Over the course of my teaching career I've taught and helped many students to achieve their ultimate goals. Many have gone on to study at the acclaimed Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) and some have even gone on to play with other chart topping acts themselves.
I have in more recent years caught the banjo bug and am particularly into the Scruggs/Bela Fleck style of playing. I also teach the clawhammer style. The highlight of my banjo playing career was appearing on Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway with Little Mix back in 2016 (go to video page and watch).
Children are more than welcome, in fact I teach in a primary school and am fully DBS checked. The youngest I teach is around 7 years old and the oldest I've taught was 73 years old. It's never too late! I'm flexible with lesson schedules and they are tailored around you so can happen weekly or fortnightly. My lessons follow school term times as I also teach in schools so have the same holidays as schools. For those wanting extra lessons during the summer holidays then that can also be arranged.
I also regularly prepare students for examinations if requested on all the instruments I teach. These include the following: ABRSM grades 1 to 8, Trinity grades 1 to 8, Trinity Rock and Pop all grades, RSL Rockschool (Guitar/Bass/Ukulele) all grades, I also offer ABRSM music theory lessons to prepare for grade 5 music theory exams for those choosing to go beyond grade 5 level for ABRSM practical exams.
So, lessons can be half hour, 45 minutes or an hour or longer if required (for advanced students). My rates are £22 for half an hour £33 for 45 minutes and £44 for an hour.
